If you like rhythm, these guys dish it out in spades. Again, haunting lyrics and powerful vocals are the nature of this group's game and that is what appealed to me, they are a cut above the rest of the indie bands out there.
I would like to start this journey with Obstacle 1. A song with a bass line that will have you humming this for days to come:
And since they seem to be fond of putting things in our paths, here is one of their latest album, the self-titled "Interpol":
A slighty, hmm, disturbing video named "Evil". I see dead people!
The last video, "PDA" is one of their most catchy tunes to date. Take it to the bridge!
That's it for this edition of Music to Die For. Another one will make its appearance next week, if Alyxyn doesn't do horrible things to me first...
Cheers
Nargoth
Another long forgotten band apparently still with us. I'm not a big fan of most indie bands, and in my memory interpol was not a huge exception. But i must say i enjoyed Evil a lot (was the first song i clicked). Listening to the other songs after that was kinda disapointing. (although PDA came close)
ReplyDeleteSooo... why is that?
Maybe because it has a solid bridge and strong vocals? I really like the voice. Dunno, it gets under my skin.
ReplyDeletePost-punk was basically the next musical style that followed the initial punk outbreak in the 70's. Same roots, more emphasis on complex chord progression and experimentation.
ReplyDeleteI think it was mostly bands like Souxsie and the Banshee's, Joy Division, Gang of Four.
In the mid-90s bands like the Killers and Interpol started making music that sounded like that stuff again, so they're lumped under the same genre.
"The More You Know."
The lead's tendency to deep throat the mic distorts his voice and he seems inconsistent ... the 2nd and 3rd videos seemed okay, but on the 1st and last, he sounds like he's trying hard to hold the tune and his voice is scratchy as hell.
ReplyDeleteAlso: lyrics on Evil. "weightless; semi-erotic" .. whoa .. Keith Carradine, anyone?
What the hell was that song about, anyway?
*Okay, I did some reading and it would appear that no ones really knows what goes on in the minds of Interpol. I'mma just leave it there.*
Sorry, Narc, not on my listening list, but you did give us some stuff to talk about!
