Greetings ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to this brand new column : Soundcheck!

I sent in-game mails to everyone in the guild to explain, as best as I could, the whole concept of this new column, but let me reiterate on what I'll be doing.

A few of you guys were kind enough to provide me with your birthday. From that date, I will extrapolate to find approximate dates that were probably influenced by the music you were listening to at that point in time. Now, I obviously don't know exactly what you were listening to as far as your type of music is concerned, but I can find out what was rated #1 on radio stations in Canada and the US on those dates.

After debating on what dates to choose from, Iola and I decided to settle for the following three :
1) What you parents were listening to when you were conceived (watch out for mental pictures)
2) What you were listening to when you turned 14 (and therefore could easily be influenced)
3) What you were listening to when you turned 21 (in your car, driving to go and buy some booze)

Without any other intro, here is our first participant !

Dolgan Elfbane was by far the first to provide his birthday, so he deserves the first spot. Going back 9 months from his birthday, this is what a little type of tadpoles swam to :

Oh My Papa !, indeed ! Eddie Fisher was the singer here for this great Papa song.

But then Dolgan got older and ended up in the teen category. As he hit his 14th birthday, it seems all his friends were listening to :

And how will that song affect your life? Only in the good way ! It's not a classic for no reason, awesome song to grow up to. That is, Hey Jude, from The Beattles.

And then, our friend Dolgan decided it was time to grow up, grow a beard and get drunk ! Yes, my friends, he was now 21, and legally allowed to drink, singing along to :

I would pay a good amount of money to see Dolgan sing that song. WITH the same gestures and pink background. But you have to respect this legend of music, Neil Sedaka, and his hit Bad Blood played in duo with Elton John.

So how can Dolgan Elfbane be anything but sweet and mellow ? Do you think you figured a bit of his life and personality ? Leave a comment, discuss it !

And stay tuned, as next week we go deeper into the music that forged our GBoss ! Can't miss that one !

Cheers !

  2. I think you need to find out what flavor of music the people listen to as well. I mean - I was a rock and rock baby gone country - and now am jazz. represent us all!

  3. Yea we know that the style of music you were listening to might not be what's represented here and we respect that.

It's only what was on the radio. That being said, I'm pretty sure that he heard some or even all of them, you know, since they were #1.

But anyway, it's really just for fun, so no biggy.
