A brief preface on today's selection:
Gnomes have always played some small (get it?) part in all of the major fairy tales and fables. but "small" does not mean the same as "unimportant," and even though the mainstream media has glossed over these seminal contributions by gnome-kind, their deeds are forever immortalized in the poetry of their kin.
Today's poem celebrates the often overlooked selflessness of a young gnome from the tale of "Rapunzel"...
The gnome Percy was once trapped high in a tower
with a maiden whose tresses held amazing power.
When asked why he stayed there,
instead of climbing down on her hair ...
he said "she needed a little *cough* help in the shower."
with a maiden whose tresses held amazing power.
When asked why he stayed there,
instead of climbing down on her hair ...
he said "she needed a little *cough* help in the shower."

I swear, I will never read Rapunzel again without thinking of you.

Corrupting childhood memories eh?
ReplyDeleteI like it! :)
i wouldn't go so far as to say "corrupting"... for like "adding a distinct point of view."
ReplyDeletealthough i fail to mention that point of view is right about crotch level. c'est la vie!
You might see that header go through a few iterations. Not completely happy with it yet.
ReplyDeleteOh, I actually liked your first attempt a lot. Looked very gnomish to me.
