People who work Monday to Friday or who attend classes Monday to Friday have a little bonus in life. Oh, I'm not talking anything tangible like getting a few extra toonies in your pay envelope or being able to date hot campus girls and guys .. no. Those of you who struggle to get out of bed each morning, to put your feet on the chilly floor before heading to the bathroom to shampoo the last of the dreamsand out of your head .. you have something I don't. You usually know what day it is. Which is a long way of saying "I forgot it was Sunday and I needed to do a column." Yikes.
Okay, so here goes. Just a short one this week, about Charles Christopher, a young yeti. He's so young, he still has a pacifier and is afraid of things that go bump in the night. He is joined in the forest by a wide variety of birds, rabbits and ordinary folk who know what's what. You'll be surprised with how much humanity you find in our forest friends and their tales.
Charles is discovering his new home in these panels. Uncle Timo is a recurring theme... I'm pretty sure you'll recognize one of your family relatives in him. |
Charles makes a new friend and they become best of buddies. These two gave me one of those moments in literature that stuns you. And you remember forever. |
Karl Kerschl has been drawing comics professionally for 15 years. He has worked on Superman, The Flash and the Teen Titans, among other heroic things. He lives in Montréal with his wife and his cat, Jacques Cousteau.
