HOWDY TROOPS!

Ahhhhhhh yes,.... The prodigal son has RETURNED!

Yes, the world's greatest chef has been enjoying his retirement to the fullest measure! I have been sitting back, with sipping my favorite drink of pleasure,....

"Nectar of the Gods"

As well, eating my favorite food of choice........

Yes, Ghettobosspizzaforce, it still is a "Large Pie, with Mushrooms, (AA loves them too!) Garlic, Pepperoni, and extra cheese!

Yes, i have been enjoying the good life, but something was missing......  NO, its not all the meat that Revliss stole from my cooler.  It was the chance to post in the scummiest part of town! That being said, I thought, hey, why not surprise my favorite scum with a retirement update!

As we left off, I rode into the sunset, with all my adoring fans, (Babes from all my journey's in Chef on the run), and went to find a cozy little place to hang my hat, and call it home! One of the places i mentioned building was a beach house, the other, a finely built castle next too our fearless leader GHETTOBOSSPIZZAFORCE!

For you new guys, I raised the young pup Ghetts from an infant, as i was the house chef. Raised on the finest foods he was!

Well, you guessed it,... i built a fine homestead next door to our fearless leader.........

As you see, things are going just fine & dandy! Every blue moon, we get a visit from our next door neighbor Ghetts. I thought he was here to see my um, er,... ahem... "female friends, but actually, he just smells the brick oven pizza,  grabs a couple pies, then heads back home. Thats ok, ya gotta love that guy!

Just wanted to drop a few lines, and say hey to everybody. I will stop by here and there for another report. AA, glad to see you are loving mushrooms now. I'll send a couple basket fulls over to ya! Revliss, for old times sake, i cooked you a couple sides of beef. and my favorite barmaid Ciz, I sent over a couple cases of Crown Royal to the tavern for ya! Thanks to Iboss as always for the opportunity to post "Chef on the Run" And um, er.. oh ya, Aly... I here Ghetts didn't send you for english lessons as i hoped he would. I really don't think theres .... ooopppsss, let me refrase that!... Aly, Ah dun't tink ders a Mutch halp fers youse! Buh, heers a sumptin ah fund in mah foto album frumz dah pazt!........

"Scary, isnt it?"

Ok Troops, till the next exciting adventure, this is your favorite chef signing out! And just as the chef always says:  Work sucks, Retirement rules! Wherever you go, there you are!

ScumFlash: Scumbase 1 year old

One year ago, Iola kicked off the use of this website with the following post.  Ofcourse we didn't officially started using it till the 23rd with the official welcome post, but that is kinda like keeping quiet you had a baby untill you are sure it is a boy or a girl you figured out how to change the diapers. So that means Scumbase is one year old. ;)

I was planning on giving you the links to the bestestestest posts of the past year, but after the two links above I figured to not go there, tis a silly place. Go look for yourself, you'll at least smirk.

Anyway. I want to thank everyone that has been helping out with the website (and in the earlier days there were lots of you) over the past year and ofcourse Iola for keeping it alive and fresh for 12 months now. I'm sure Ciciz will manage to dig up some of Dolgans special kegs for this occasion.

PS: Yeah, no birthday bashes & more again this week. Sorry, festival season and all. Next week, I promise.

Today's comic is so politically incorrect at times you're not going to want to read it around your liberal friends.  Or maybe admit reading it at all.  But go ahead ... sneak a look ... and enjoy the chuckles.  Here are some of the safer ones ...

Wise words that every little kid should know.

Really, sit it all out. The wisdom will dawn on you.

I ran into a comic a bit ago that I wasn't really convinced I wanted to follow. Not because the story sucks or because I've become more picky, but because I really appreciate great art.  I like color work.  I appreciate a well drawn comic.  Most especially, I like them together.  There's been a slew of pretty fantastic color art presented here, so maybe I am a bit picky.

The beginning of The Endstone is in black and white, albeit well done line work.  With this in its corner, I have decided to be patient until I get to the later color work.

The story is of the sundering of the great Endstone and Banestone .. stones never meant to be used together, lest the world befall disastrous consequences.  Kyri Thunderhead is the wielder of the Endstone .. or in the parlance of this comic ..  the rocker of the Endstone, which disrupts energy.

Her husband, Jon Montaine, is the rocker of the Banestone whose powers have caused him to be quite insane, believing the only way to set the world back on its correct path is to destroy it.

Jon used both stones at The Eternity Spire and it threw both of them into a stasis for 15 years .. long enough for their daughter to inherit the Banestone and become as batshit crazy as Jon.  The stasis has been released .. Kyri and Jon are back .. still intent on their own missions.

And thus begins The Endstone. Written and drawn by Anthony Theisen, it updates on Mondays and Thursdays. Although the earlier issues were a bit shorter, the subsequent ones have run about 40 pages in length. We're currently on Issue Eight.

ScumFlash: Dungeonparty Zenith

D31: Ninastar looking the Archdemon of Confusion straight in the eyes... You see why he is called that. He clearly has no idea why he has been beaten with almost 1/3d of the guild not checked in.

D32:  Sometimes it just isn't your day. The check in was a bit better, but still very dissapointing. And Valkyries are just plain evil and when they say no they really mean no!

Zenith will do another attempt on D32 today. Let's hope the not check inners wake up and help out. This dungeon is beatable if everybody over there helps out.

ScumFlash: Future Dungeonparties

As you all know, some of us will go out to attend a dungeonparty at Zenith this week (A big thank you to Badness, Ninastar, Dolgan Elbane and Iola for volunteering). Ofcourse we’ll keep you up to date about their heroic deeds while there on this very blog.

We’ve been on quite some dungeonparties in the past and a lot of you have participated over the years, so you might remember how much fun they could be. Seeing our own dungeon is so hard to crack that we decided to only attempt them once a month we have some “free” weeks.

When Lord Judicator  from Zenith asked me if we could help them with some dungeon attempts it occurred to me… “Why not turn this into a the Severed Tongue tradition again?” What if we would reach out and help some other guilds to beat them a bit earlier so they too can enjoy the guild bonuses  a bit more and level a bit faster. In the end it will be more entertaining for us too.

There would be some basic rules that we can work out further later, if a big enough group of lowlifes agrees with the idea, like:
  • A Dungeonparty crew contains about 4 or 5 scum
  • We don’t join in attacking other guilds, but we’ll help defend if we are able
  • We won’t pay for the dungeons, but we’ll donate our leftovers like we do at home
  • Everybody that wants to go should have a chance to go to a party
  • Dungeon raids should start Wednesdays
  • Every partygoer is back  before the weekend starts (in case of specials)
  • Etc.

So for the next two weeks we’ll have a poll: “Would you like the idea of members of our guild going on a dungeonparty on a regular basis? “ Let your voice be heard and if you have better ideas then by all means let us know.

Back in our mini comic days we always intended to do a spoof of the Indiana Jones films where our characters Alex and Walter would run into an Indy-esque type character. There was a long period of time where Indiana Jones, as well as our own work, slipped out of the public consciousness. We were fortunate that a new Indy film came about shortly before we began seriously talking about reviving Dressed For Success as a webcomic. Now we could throw our characters into an Indiana Jones style adventure and it would have some sort of relevance. Lucky us!
- Jeff

Hey, if you're going to rip off something .. Indiana Jones is a good place to look for inspiration.  Add in a couple of unlikely heroes ... and you have the latest Dressed For Success outing.

We meet our heroes ...
... and the people the story is really about ...
.. and the plot thickens.
Pure fun .. 138 pages and counting .. published on Wednesdays.
